What treatment are you on for PBC?

What current or past treatments have you been on for PBC? And what has your treatment experience been like?

  1. ursodiol and Livdelzi

  2. is there a particular formula the dr uses to determine the mg of ursodiol?

  3. I take 500 mg of URSO 3 times a day. I generally take a tablet with each meal. I have had no side effects over the 3.5 years I have been taking URSO since my diagnosis. However, I did not respond as well as hoped and had the opportunity to participate in a year long clinical trial for Livdelzi. Within 30 days of starting on Livdelzi, my ALP was normal. I have now been on Livdelzi for 2 years and continue to keep my liver enzymes in check.

    1. The gastroenterology practice I use has a research unit. My GI physician referred me and I met the criteria.

    2. That’s a huge plus having a practice with a research unit built in! It’s not every day you get that kind of opportunity, so I’m really glad you were able to participate and see some benefits. -Latoya (Team Member)

  4. I am on urso but my dr was saying there is a new drug out. Needing info on new drug and is it usually higher or lower than urso. I have had great results with urso. Have been on it for over 10 years and I am told that I am still in stage 2

    1. The sound of there being a new drug is definitely encouraging, especially since there aren’t many options. It almost makes you feel like there is more work being done behind the scenes to help manage it which is a great thing since PBC isn’t commonly known. But it also sounds like URSO has been promising to you and keeping things stable! That’s a great thing! But I am curious, did your doctor sound like they were wanting you to try the new drug, or were they just mentioning that there are newer options available now? -Latoya (Team Member)
