What are your most frustrating symptoms of PBC?

PBC can cause symptoms like fatigue and itching that are difficult to manage. What are your most frustrating symptoms, and how do they affect you?

  1. Extreme fatigue. Luckily I have not yet experienced the itching.

    1. I am an older woman and have always been very active. Sometimes I just can't fight the fatigue and my older kids just can't understand when I say I've reached my limit. I don't know how to make them understand. I've given them both a booklet to read so they can see.

    2. I know it’s tough. I think sometimes our kids get so used to seeing us as the ones who always show up and keep going that it can be hard for them to adjust when things change. Maybe they haven’t fully accepted it yet, and they struggle to really understand it, too. But I hope they take the time to really listen and read what you’ve given them. No matter what, your effort to explain and be open is still making a difference. Give it time. It can, and it will change soon. Be encouraged, Latoya (Team Member)

  2. Being tired all the time and itching

    1. Being tired and uncomfortable at the same time sounds like it can be so draining. How long have you been dealing with those symptoms? -Latoya (Team Member)

  3. I have fatigue but is it because i am 75 yrs old or is fatigue from PBC more profound fatique

    1. That's a really good question, ! It could be difficult to know whether the fatigue is from getting older, PBC, or a combination of both. What does a fatigued day look like for you? Is it more physical exhaustion, mental fatigue, or both? -Latoya (Team Member)

  4. fatigue, memory laspes

    1. Thanks for sharing your experience. The fatigue is difficult enough, so adding memory lapses on top of that must be a lot to navigate. How are you doing currently with balancing the two? -Latoya (Team Member)
