Have you experienced changes to your menstrual cycle?
Hi there, I've recently been diagnosed with PBC so am still learning about the condition and what symptoms others experience, other than itching and fatigue. I've been experiencing changes to my menstrual cycle but my consultant has advised there is no link to PBC and hormones that would cause changes. I've requested blood tests and am awaiting results but I've seen info online that suggests PBC can cause cycle irregularities. Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this or something similar?
Welcome to the community! There can be a lot to take in after a new diagnosis, so it makes sense that you’re trying to connect the dots with changes you’ve noticed. I did a little more digging into this because I thought your question was interesting. There actually is some research looking at menstrual changes in women with PBC, including irregular or heavier periods, although it doesn’t establish that PBC itself is the cause. So I can definitely understand why you’re wondering about the connection, especially since you’ve noticed a change. I truly hope some of the women here can share what they’ve experienced.
